The controversial new biography of President Barack Obama claims that his wife, Michelle Obama, planned to leave the future president in 2000.

Is the divorce story real? Is anything in the book?

The unauthorized biography, which Klein claims is based on nearly 200 interviews, has been dismissed by presidential spokesperson Eric Schultz.

"Ed Klein has a proven history of reckless fabrication in order to sell books," he said. "Nobody in their right mind would believe the nonsense in this one."

Nevertheless, the Obama divorce story is the latest revelation in the book - which also discusses his ex Genevieve Cook - to generate major buzz.

In The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House, out this week, Klein claims the divorce nearly happened eight years into the Obamas' marriage.

After Obama failed to listen to his wife's warnings in challenging Bobby Rush for his U.S. House seat in 2000 and got creamed, their relationship cooled.

“During the dark days that followed his defeat, he turned to Michelle for comfort. But she was in no mood for sympathy," Klein reportedly writes.

"He had refused to listen to her warnings about taking on Rush."

The primary left them in debt and Barack depressed, Klein claims. “Michelle actually had divorce papers drawn up,” he writes, citing one of her friends.

“Obama was so depressed that some of his friends worried that he was suicidal,” the book adds, without elaboration on that particular point.

Obama, of course, was still in the Illinois State Senate, and went on to win a U.S. Senate seat in 2004 that helped establish his national credentials.

But Michelle almost vetoed the Senate race, too.

Northwestern University professor Steven Rogers told Klein that Obama talked about his ambition after they met at a golf fund-raiser.

“My wife will not allow me to run for the Senate until I clear up the debts from my unsuccessful run for Congress,” Obama said, according to Rogers.

Emily Maynard is happy to be The Bachelorette, and even happier that the producers didn't pull any major stunts with the casting. That we know of. Yet.

The Bachelorette spoilers for this season are still trickling in, so who knows what surprises await the beautiful single mom from Charlotte, North Carolina.

The season premiere last night was relatively drama-free and went off without a hitch, with the exception of a helicopter that had her fearing the worst.

That being the return of Brad Womack ... or Bentley Williams.

Fortunately for Emily Maynard, the producers weren't cruel enough to subject her to her ex-fiancee, or that jackass from Ashley's season, as a stunt.

Instead, she met 25 great guys, many of whom went all out to impress her. Who made the best first impressions with the former Bachelor winner?

"First of all, I can't even begin to say how grateful and blessed I feel to be The Bachelorette. It's still hard for me to wrap my head around the idea."

"I can't tell you how many times I said no, but I know God allows us to meet people at the right time and I just hope this is the right time for me."

"It's always scary meeting new people for the first time, especially like this! I wasn't sure if I would like any of the guys or if any of the guys would like me, but so many of my fears were calmed after just the first limo."

"I definitely felt a connection with a few of the guys and it made me confident that my decision to come back was worth it. So many of the guys stood out to me. Even though he was the last to show up, I think I have to start by acknowledging Kalon."

"What an entrance! A million thoughts were going through my mind. I was extremely nervous it was Brad or possibly Bentley! I was relieved to see a fresh face."

"As extravagant as the helicopter was, Jef showing up on the skateboard was way more impressive in my mind! I immediately loved that he wasn't trying to impress me with some over the top entrance."

"Anyone who knows me knows I have an extreme love for shoes, so Tony hit it out of the park with his glass slipper entrance."

"He did a great job making a memorable impression because as he walked away he made me realize how much I want the fairytale ending and how this time I really hope the glass slipper fits and I find my Prince Charming!

"Last but not least, Doug. What a sweetheart! The letter his son wrote to me was one of the sweetest things I have ever received and if anyone can appreciate how hard it is being away from their child, it's me."

"I'm so grateful that Doug took a chance on love, and I was honored that he saw something in me. It meant a lot and I wanted him to know that I would take a chance on him too and that's why I gave him the first impression rose."

At the Fox Upfronts yesterday, Glee creator Ryan Murphy revealed to Lea Michele and Cory Monteith what would be going down with their characters next season!

Of the experience, Lea said:

“I just sat there and didn't speak and tried to memorize and remember everything. And things change throughout the year, but it's very exciting. I was super happy. Cory was happy."

Things change?! Noooo! Finchel forever! LOLz!

Also up next for the show? Not only will Britney Spears be starring as a mentor on The X Factor -- which will air right before Glee on Thursdays -- it looks like Glee will be doing a SECOND Brit Brit tribute episode!!!

Riding high off the recent Britney buzz, the tribute episode will be the second ep of the season and will include eight of her songs!

Reportedly, though, the episode will NOT revolve around the character Brittany...hmmm...does this mean Heather Morris definitely isn’t returning?!

Producers are hoping to work out a deal for Britney to appear in the episode, which we're sure they could cross-promote with The X Factor!

If the new XF mentor DOES guest star on the show, she’ll be joining Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker this season.

Chris Colfer leaked yesterday that SJP will be taking on the role of Kurt’s mentor and Kate Hudson will play the role of Rachel’s mentor, who'll be singing AND dancing!

As for the season three finale episode? Lea says Rachel and Finn leave off with a cliffhanger, whereas Chris says Kurt and Blaine just “zig and zag.”

Following reports in December that she had split from Scott Speer, E! News is now reporting that the actress and her music video-directing boyfriend are actually going strong.

There may have been a lull at some point, but Tisdale and Speer have been spotted out multiple times recently, with one source saying they spent all of last weekend together as a "coming out" to prove they were, indeed, back together.

Speer and Tisdale started dating in 2009. She recently wished him a "great day" on Twitter, solidifying the reconciliation once and for all.
